Bags for wildlife

Pop into Tesco’s on Holland Park Avenue and vote for a new pond. Sounds very random but Holland Park’s wildlife pond is hoping to receive a grant from Tesco and Groundwork’s ‘Bags of Help’ initiative to help carry out vital restoration. Anyone who shops in Tesco in the Holland Park and Kensington area is being asked to vote on whether £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000 should be made available to the project. The grants are the proceeds from the 5p charge for plastic bags which the Government introduced last October – nice to know it is being used. The Ecology Centre has applied for the grant to create a new wildlife pond. The existing pond’s liner is not working resulting in low water and oxygen levels which made it difficult for children to pond dip last summer – Zut. The new pond will be a shallower model which will make a better habitat for wildlife. carrier-bags.
