Million books Byng given away – deadline extended

In a massive celebration of books and reading Notting Hill-based publisher Jamie Byng will help give away a million books on 5th March, the first ever World Book Night, two days after World Book Day.

The deadline to be one of the givers has been extended to 24th January, so hurry if you want to be in with a chance.

Byng, who owns publishing house Canongate, is World Book Night chairman and has brought together publishers, booksellers, writers and Jo Public to give a million books from a selection of 25 titles. Some of the books will be given to libraries, bookshops and communities with less access to books and the whole thing will be broadcast on BBC Two.

Pavlova has applied to be one of the 20,000 chosen to give away 48 books, so hopefully some of you may be given a poetry book soon… fingers crossed. For more information go to www.worldbooknight.org
