Great travels writers are coming together to share their adventures in Spain, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Iran. It’s going to be good, the writers are John Gimlette, Amelia Richards, Benedict Allen, Christina Lamb, Hugh Thomson, Jason Elliot.
Author Christina Lamb will talk us through her 28 year fascination with Afghanistan – from the Tora Bora caves which once hid Osama bin Laden to the poppyfields and Taliban stronghold of Helmand, and the poetry, coloured glass and Jihad Museum of Herat. That’s going to be good, and Jason Elliot will take us though Iran and introduce us to the sublime architecture of Isfahan, the forests of the north, the bleak landscapes of Kurdistan and the urban contradictions of Teheran.
